Our Story

How this workshop came to be

Nakorn Timeworks grew from a simple observation: that many watch owners in Bangkok had well-loved timepieces that needed attention but nowhere quiet and honest to take them. The market was full of fast-turnaround counters and shops that leaned on brand mystique. There wasn't much in between.

The workshop opened on Thonglor Soi 13 with a deliberate focus on three services done carefully rather than a dozen done quickly. We wanted a place where the person bringing in their father's mechanical watch or a daily-wear quartz could talk to someone who would actually explain what they'd found — not just hand back a receipt.

The name, Nakorn, comes from the Thai word for city — a nod to the Bangkok setting. The Timeworks part describes what we do. Put together, it signals something rooted here and serious about the craft.

Mission & Values
  • Honesty before anything else

If the repair isn't worth doing, we say so. If we're not the right workshop for a particular piece, we'll point you somewhere better.

  • Transparency in every stage

For significant work, we keep notes and photographs. You see the process, not just the finished result handed back in a box.

  • Pace that suits the work

Watches are intricate objects. Rushing them produces poorer results. We set honest timelines and communicate clearly if anything changes.

  • Respect for what you bring in

Whether a piece cost ฿500 or ฿500,000, it will be handled with the same care. Every watch has a history worth respecting.

How We Work

Standards we hold ourselves to

These aren't rules we display on a wall. They're habits that have shaped how the workshop operates day to day.

Assessment before action

Every watch is assessed before work begins. We document what we find and share it with you before committing to any service.

Ultrasonic cleaning protocol

Movement parts are cleaned in a calibrated ultrasonic bath before reassembly — the standard approach for serious workshop servicing.

Timing machine verification

Mechanical movements are measured on a timing machine before return, giving you a clear picture of how the watch is performing.

Water resistance testing

Where gasket work is involved, watches undergo pressure and vacuum testing appropriate to their stated water resistance rating.

Written service record

A service summary is prepared for each completed job — what was done, what parts were replaced, and any notes for future reference.

Secure storage on premises

Watches in our care are stored in a locked, climate-managed cabinet when not being worked on. We keep track of every piece on the workbench.

Workshop Background

Watch repair and servicing in Bangkok

Bangkok has a long relationship with fine watches. Thonglor and the surrounding Watthana district have always attracted people with a considered approach to the objects they collect and carry. Nakorn Timeworks occupies a quiet spot in that neighbourhood, accessible enough to visit easily from central Bangkok, and focused enough to give each watch the attention it deserves.

The workshop handles quartz movements and mechanical calibres from a wide range of Swiss and Japanese manufacturers. For heritage mechanical watches — pieces that have served for decades and now need a complete overhaul — the rebuild process is documented carefully, with notes and photographs at each significant stage. Owners find that knowing what happened to a watch during a service changes how they feel about carrying it afterwards.

Case and bracelet work is a separate craft from movement work, and we treat it that way. Refinishing a case means making choices about character: a watch that has been worn daily for twenty years has marks that tell its story. We discuss what you want before picking up any tools, because the right result is the one that fits your intentions, not ours.

Quartz servicing is often straightforward but benefits from being done properly. A fresh battery placed without checking the gasket condition or the crown seal offers limited reassurance. We work through the service checklist in full and let you know honestly if the watch would benefit from further attention or if it's in good shape for another few years.
